Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that there is a separate island west of Montreal but in fact this part of West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, but after a sudden growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. After I surpassed my male counterparts at that point, I gave up. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. Her teacher suggested she audition for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the annual school production. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Through the years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the character as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
